This week, the blog is taken over by Gridiron CEO Gene Scheurer discussing the importance of the coach role in youth sports. Like many parents in the youth football community, Gene has coached his sons’ flag football teams for the past 13 years. After joining Gridiron in 2021, Gene placed an emphasis on ensuring that Gridiron coaches have all of the tools and resources they need to ensure a great experience for the kids!

Keep reading to hear more from Gene and his thoughts about coaching, and to check out some of the new training and resources available for coaches.

The Importance of Coaches

Coaches have the opportunity to not only teach fundamentals of football, but also connect the lessons on the field to life lessons that will be important for the development of handling adversity, learning teamwork, and the importance of physical activity.

Without coaches, we would not be able to provide a league for kids to enjoy and to develop the many talents the children were blessed with. There is nothing more important in youth sports than a caring, passionate, and dedicated coach.

Our Mission to Coaches

Since joining Gridiron Football in late 2021, I have made it one of our organization’s key missions to ensure that our coaches have the tools and resources to deliver a great experience.

In the past month we have:

  • Launched a new library of tools, videos, and resources on our website.
  • Partnered with National Football Academies, a leader in the industry, to develop an Elite Coaching Clinic and develop training materials for coaches, while also hosting a Camp Series for kids looking for additional skills development.
This is just the start as we continue to add additional tools, resources, training and apply expertise to ensure that your kids have a great experience with Gridiron Football.  I look forward to seeing your family out on the Gridiron soon!

As a flag football coach for the past 13 years, I can personally say that the coach is the most important aspect of a child enjoying a season, no matter the win-loss record.

Gridiron Launches New Coaching Resources in Conjunction with National Football Academies

At Gridiron Football, we know that great coaches change lives. Most of our team members played youth sports and have worked with players as coaches. We can tell you that a great player has had at least one great coach who trained and believed in them.

Do you have a coach who changed your life for the better as a kid? Tell us what made them stand out in the comments!

Gene’s vision of increasing the quality and accessibility to training, tools, and resources for coaches has resulted in a better experience for players and parents, supporting our mission to provide the best Game Day experience possible.

In the Spring of 2021, we launched a partnership with National Football Academies to provide a series of training resources and clinics across the nation. The Gridiron X NFA Camp Series provides youth football coaches of all levels with elite level certification. NFA’s Pro Coaching Staff train some of the best in the game, and feedback from the coach clinic events so far has been superlative.
