Battle5 Gridiron Takes on Bean Town

Battle5 Gridiron / Massachusetts. Earlier this month, 500 youth flag football athletes from four states competed in the Battle5 Gridiron Massachusetts State Championship. As morning pool play transitioned into single-elimination playoffs, there was no shortage of epic catches, flag pulls, jukes and touchdown dances.

But in addition to stiff competition on the field, teams also had to compete against Mother Nature! Record-level rainfall turned the beautiful 36-acre campus at Xaverian Brothers High School in Westwood, MA into a waterpark of football fun. Parents sought refuge in their cars, the sound of horns replacing cheers, while the football faithful geared up in ponchos, rain boots and umbrellas. The common phrase on everyone's lips: "This is football weather!" And in the end, seven rain-soaked, but elated State Champions were crowned.
